BEGGS PD UPDATE - AUGUST 14, 2026
8/14/2026

August 14, 2026
City of Beggs Residents,
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has approved sending agents to Beggs to assist the City Council and Administration during the transition to new Police Department leadership. During this period, the Attorney General's office has committed to provide law enforcement support as we rebuild the department. We are grateful for the assistance extended to us and our residents.
In conjunction with the AG's office, Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddie Rice has pledged to provide service in the event additional enforcement is needed. We remain grateful to Sheriff Rice and his deputies for their ongoing support and readiness to serve the Beggs community once again.
We thank Representative Scott Fetgatter, who helped coordinate this assistance with the Attorney General's office. We also would like to extend our appreciation to Mr. J.W. Mobley. His guidance and expertise during his time here has bettered the department and the City's ability to ensure the next Chief will be successful.
As always, this Council and Administration remain focused on providing the best possible opportunities for our community today, while ensuring a better tomorrow for each resident of Beggs.
Justin Jones, Beggs City Council President, Ward 1
Roger Merrill, Mayor, City of Beggs
